Culinary Competition

25 sections covering cakes, breads, preserves, confections, and more. All entries must be homemade.

Key Rules

  • Entries made from cake mixes or Certo are not acceptable and will be disqualified.
  • Gluten-free and diabetic entries are welcome across all sections.
  • Place all food submissions in plastic bags.
  • All entries must comply with the General Rules for Domestic Sciences.

Competition Sections

Categories (25 Sections)

Cakes

  • Chocolate cake (½, no icing)
  • White cake (½, no icing)
  • Gingerbread cake (½, no icing)
  • Sticky date pudding (2″ slice, no sauce)

Baked Goods

  • Brownies (fudge style, 4 pieces) (Crapaud WI adds $25 to 1st place)
  • Brownies (cake style, 4 pieces)
  • Squares (baked, 4 pieces, any variety) (Crapaud WI adds $25 to 1st place)
  • Muffins (4, any variety) (Crapaud WI adds $25 to 1st place)
  • Cookies (macaroons, 4) (Crapaud WI adds $25 to 1st place)
  • Cookies (any kind, 4) (Crapaud WI adds $25 to 1st place)
  • Tarts (4)
  • Doughnuts (plain, 4)
  • Tea biscuits (4)
  • Cinnamon rolls (4)
  • Scones (4)
  • Scotch cookies (4) (Della and Doug Ferguson add $25 to 1st place in memory of Daisy Dawson)
  • White rolls (4) (Tryon WI adds $25 to 1st place in memory of Beryl Best)

Breads

  • White bread (½ loaf) (Crapaud WI adds $25 to 1st place)
  • Sourdough bread, white (½ loaf)
  • Sweet bread (not yeast, ½ loaf)

Preserves

  • Strawberry Jam (cooked, in a Mason jar, no Certo)
  • Salsa (cooked, in a Mason jar)

Confections

  • Fudge, brown sugar (4 squares)
  • Fudge, chocolate (4 squares)

Pies

  • Strawberry Rhubarb Pie (double crust)
